Nestled within the Hemis National Park, Kang Yatse II emerges as a prominent figure, standing at an elevation of 6,250 meters. It is the slightly shorter counterpart to its adjacent summit, Kang Yatse I, which soars impressively to 6,400 meters. This formidable duo graces the arid expanse of Ladakh, presenting an alluring challenge for trekkers seeking to conquer their heights. As one of the loftiest trekking peaks in this vast and parched terrain, Kang Yatse II beckons adventurers on the sixth day of their expedition, leading them through the picturesque Markha Valley to its base.

Commencing the journey in the elevated mountain city of Leh, the voyage unfolds with a tapestry of natural beauty. The route to Skiu offers encounters with the confluence of the distinctively hued Zanskar and Indus rivers. Amidst this remarkable backdrop, sporadic glimpses of indigenous wildlife further enrich the experience. The trek's progression through the Markha Valley, though demanding and arid, unveils an exquisite panorama of rugged charm, ultimately culminating at the foot of the coveted Kang Yatse II. The peak, a masterpiece of sheer magnificence, stands resolute amidst the dry, scree-laden terrain.

En route, one encounters quaint settlements that punctuate the arid landscape, providing insights into the local culture and way of life. Symbolic religious shrines, mani walls, and stupa structures bear witness to the region's profound faith, imbuing the surroundings with cultural significance. Descending through the lofty Kongmaru La pass, situated at an elevation of 5,236 meters, adds yet another layer of grandeur to the expedition. This passage, with intermittent steep inclines set against extensive stretches of flat land teeming with pikus and marmots, unveils breathtaking vistas of Kang Yatse I, Kang Yatse II, and Dzo Jongo. Adorned with fluttering prayer flags, the winds atop the pass exude a fierce vigor. The subsequent descent navigates deep gorges and water crossings, with the valley alternatingly revealing and concealing itself around every bend.
